<\/a>\nUIX Global<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>convened an international community of thought leaders and early adopters at the\u00a0Zero Net Energy Center<\/a><\/strong>, in San Leandro, CA, on October 28-29,\u00a0for the 2016\u00a0Prototyping the Future<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 conference, expo, and workshop series focusing on how the Smart Cities revolution is fundamentally transforming the communities in which we all live, work, and play.\u00a0PTF2016<\/strong> played host to\u00a0global and local policy makers, clean tech startups and companies, smart city developers, community members, hackers, and makers to\u00a0 ignite and excite global and local communities about the prospect of Greener-Smarter Cities.<\/p>\n

The California Cleantech Commercialization Coalition (4C) Tech in Transit<\/strong> engagement workshop was a convening of Cleantech Open<\/strong> participating 4C startup teams and 4C program industry partners. The objective of\u00a0Tech in Transit is\u00a0to link innovators in transportation with market leaders and key suppliers to engage in investment, pilot demonstration and supply chain integration efforts, so this is one of those key opportunities for engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”777″][vc_column_text]TRANSFORMATION<\/a><\/strong>, a San Leandro By Design event, brought community leaders together to explore how transformation occurs and how public art, innovative technologies, transit, and safe, people-focused places have become the key ingredients to successful economic, environmental and social transformation. Hosted by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, Westlake Urban, OSIsoft<\/strong> and the City of San Leandro<\/strong> and facilitated by UIX Global<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”780″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Clean Tech Commercialization Networking Reception; Rapid Prototyping to Global Deployment<\/b>\u00a0highlighted the new DOE partnership for commercialization of clean technologies from idea to market adoption. The event included an expo of Prospect SV startup companies displaying the latest developments in clean and green technologies for cities. The Cleantech Open, CAGIX, LACI, Prospect SV\u00a0<\/b>and US Commercial Service<\/b>\u00a0explained\u00a0their support models for the acceleration, incubation and market entry for cleantech companies.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”328″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The Innovate Berkeley Social Innovation<\/strong> monthly dinner series\u00a0from 2013 to 2015 gathered together thought leaders and change makers to share ideas about downtown revitalization and Bay Area innovation, served with examples of delicious, local cuisine. Innovate Berkeley was co-sponsored by Impact Hub Berkeley, the City of Berkeley Office of Economic Development, the Berkeley Startup Cluster, and the Urban Innovation Exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text] \r\n <\/p>\n “The best networking event I’ve been to all year!” \r\n <\/p>\r\n <\/blockquote>[vc_text_separator title=”2014″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”337″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Prototyping the Future Conference and Expo<\/a><\/strong> was a one day exposition and conference focused on experimentation and near future scenarios based on ultra high speed broadband and three convergent technologies (Gigabit Fiber, Internet of Things, 3D printing<\/strong>). The event was co-sponsored by the City of San Leandro <\/strong>and OSI Soft<\/strong>, and explored applications for cities and industries with design, culture and entrepreneurship as catalysts for new experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”349″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n High rents and the desire for compelling community interaction is driving leaders in the cultural innovation and high tech communities to consider co-living in ten to fifteen person cooperative communities as an optimal solution to their urban house needs. In this panel leaders, organizers, participants, and observers discussed the trends that are supporting the growth of this new phenomena and evolving need for human socialization, and the varied issues and outcomes that are emerging from the implementation of this prototype movement in modern loving.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”340″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The Arts & Innovation District Walking Tour<\/strong> is a three hour monthly program that includes a guided walking tour of San Francisco\u2019s \u201cCentral Market Arts and Innovation District\u201d, followed by a facilitated discussion to explore how these kinds of urban innovation ecosystems may manifest in other domestic and international locations. Topics discussed include sustainable development, Green Cities, Smart Cities, urban innovation, <\/strong>and creative culture<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”2013″][vc_single_image image=”350″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Reimagining the Motor City; Meet Innovators of Detroit\u2019s Entrepreneurial Movement<\/strong> [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”782″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n This P3 innovation expo, held on Bayfair Mall<\/strong>‘s scenic rooftop terrace, brought together local community leaders and stakeholders to set the course for San Leandro’s future. Participants enjoyed\u00a0food from some great local vendors and shared exciting ideas that would launch San Leandro as the next great business, technology, and innovation center in the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”355″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n San Leandro by Design and UIX Global<\/strong> hosted the New Horizons Innovation Cafe<\/strong>, held in the West Gate Center<\/strong> work loft that houses Zocalo Coffee<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s beautiful old roaster. A dynamic group of young entrepreneurs and innovators from San Leandro, Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco met with West Gate management, City and Chamber staff. A delegation of Detroit-area innovators shared their work on re-imagining and reactivating urban places through creative civic interventions and tactical urbanism.These are the scrappy leaders of Detroit\u2019s locally-based startup revolution, paving the way towards a renaissance for the local economy.<\/span><\/p>\n
